The NRL’s grand final saga has come to an end with NSW’s Accor Stadium confirmed as the venue for the end-of-year showcase — for now.
ARLC chairman Peter V’landys and NRL CEO Andrew Abdo revealed the news in a press conference on Thursday.
“We have made a decision, which we believe is in the best interest of our fans and that is to hold the game in Sydney this year,” V’landys said.
But now, according to The Daily Telegraph, NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet’s offer of an $8 million payment was enough to secure the game.
“As I have said to the NRL, they should keep the NRL grand final where it has always been - in the heart of rugby league, here in NSW. Ultimately. you have to make decisions in this job about what is most important for the people of our state,” NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet said on the issue.
