Down The Rabbit Hole - The Tragics Game Review - Rabbitohs vs Warriors

Updated: Aug 31, 2022

Good afternoon Tragics, welcome to a new Rabbitohs centred blog post covering everything Rabbitohs, from a fans point of view.

In this blog I will be reviewing the Rabbitohs Round 22 game against the Warriors on the Sunshine Coast; Let's go down the Rabbit Hole.

Final Starting Sides

The Rabbitohs have always had tough games against the Warriors regardless of the end scoreline, both sides defences has always been tough for the opposition to crack in previous matchups.

To my surprise Lachlan Ilias scored off the back of a Warriors Penalty to score right under the posts for the Bunnies first try inside four minutes off a simple pass from Cameron Murray.

It was really nice to Damien Cook playing a good support role as displayed by the Rabbitohs second try with Cook lurking in the middle and catching the Cameron Murray offload to run 50m to score underneath the posts to increase the Rabbitohs lead.

The Rabbitohs forwards were really punching holes through the Warriors defence on their own line and the Rabbitohs seemed to be scoring at will during the first half of the game and it was great to see the Rabbitohs spine of Cody Walker, Damien Cook and Lachlan Ilias combining well.

It was great to see as a Rabbitohs fan Lachlan Ilias actually controlling the game, the first time I've seen him do so all season, nice to see especially heading into the finals.

The Rabbitohs forward pack were laying a great platform in attack, some really good runs and go forwrd from them, which layed a good platformfor the halves and Cameron Murray to ball play in attack and allowed Damien Cook to provide some good service out of dummy half and allowed him some room to run.

Latrell Mitchell showed all Rabbitohs fans and sent a warning to the NRL after getting involved in multiple try assists (including sending Izaac Thompson over in the corner to score on NRL debut) and scoring a double himself.

But the Rabbitohs put the foot off the gas for a few minutes in both halves allowing Edward Kosi and Shaun Johnson to score and once Latrell Mitchell went off the Warriors had a few attacking opportunities late which was a little bit concerning as teams like Penrith will make us pay for that, but on the other hand it shows how much not having Mitchell there effects us.

Overall, it was a great game to watch with the Rabbitohs attack clicking into gear but they will have a tough matchup against Parramatta next week so depending on which Parramatta side turn up.

Full Time - Rabbitohs 48 (Tries - Lachlan Ilias, Damien Cook, Tevita Tatola, Keaon Koloamatangi, Alex Johnston, Izaac Thompson, Latrell Mitchell 2) (Latrell Mitchell 8/8 Goals) def Warriors 10 (Tries - Edward Kosi, Shaun Johnson) (Shaun Johnson 1/2 Goals)
